Heh. I really feel your quote about being immediately distracted. One of my biggest peeves is when someone says "look it up yourself! Don't you know how to Google??" I end up rabbit-holing from looking up geopolitics, to reading about Anak-Krakatoa and strato-volcanoes. ADD is a hell of a drug.
Those rabbit holes are why I've been declared Loremaster in multiple MMO game guilds. 😅 I hate it when people say that, while at the same time constantly see people ask for a source when it's listed in a post, video, and numerous comments. Is asking that a reflex for some people?
Yes. This is because they've seen it shut down debates in the past. They likely don't even know what a "source" is. If they did, they'd realize it's right there in front of them.
I've always had severe issues with certain things, and I even had teachers -swear- I belonged in special education...but all my testing showed the opposite. I just couldn't "school". In my 50's I got evaluated and lo and behold... The only problem now is that they won't medicate you at 1/
my age. There's a whole thing about the bitterness of a life missed, but luckily you can't really focus on that either...lol. I've just recently been reading about the hypothesis of leaded gasoline being the root of all the ADD out there. Mildly infuriating, to say the least.

When *I* was in a position to have it addressed, the only treatment was Ritalin...and it was only recognized as an affliction with kids who were hyperactive. By the time medicine caught up, I had already learned to mitigate the worst of the issues..and been labelled "lazy" in school. /1
I just had to make my way without any assistance. It certainly affected my "outcomes", that's for sure...but I got whatever dubious benefits that come along with it...so there's that. In a Just World, I'd be getting a compensation check from BP and Exxon every month. 😆
Same boat. Ritalin twice a day in first grade until my dad decided I just needed more discipline. He violently maintained that view until I moved out first chance I got.
