I've never once encountered somebody like who you're talking to that cared in the least what it costs in time or money to become a full citizen.

I've known a couple of people who work(ed) in immigration. They describe a bleak landscape of high demand vs low staff and funding. So people are often left in limbo for months on end.

However it affects our economy, I still can’t bring myself to be hateful towards people so desperate. Not just for themselves, but often times for their families, too. Anyone who can does not understand…they never will, they have no real empathy or open love in them.

Actually, illegal immigrants are a net POSITIVE for the economy. They pay into social programs that they can't benefit from, like social security. They contribute to GDP by buying goods. They're less likely to commit crimes. The negatives are: breaking the law by being here, and usually being brown

Oh don’t worry, I’m well aware; it’s just a general statement. Trust me though, there is zero use in arguing that particular point with the people who believe otherwise…they’re far beyond brainwashed, it’s hardwired.

Forget time or money…they risk their lives to escape the horrors of where they came from. They may live as “criminals” here but they’re still better off…and they’re lucky to make it here safely for that. People often say “Well they should do it the legitimate way” but we make it IMPOSSIBLE for them.

Absolutely and that's not lost on me. But when somebody generalizes large swathes of people and says to send them back or whatever, they clearly don't care about the lives they would condemn to death and suffering when all they want is hope and a chance.

Generalizing is right, for sure. They couldn’t seem to care less whether these people really ARE murderers, or worse…versus if they’re just simply regular illegal immigrants. They call them all the same and say they all deserve the same punishment, no matter what you can prove.
