So I just tried the “Discover” feed for the first time in awhile and the following meme was number four on my top choices. It made me ill. 9k likes and nearly 2k reshares. I mean first thing, notice all the white people. Then notice the nod to grift, the Alt accounts that dominate these circles.
The Discover feed here? I assume it's based on our activity, mine is actually pretty good. Currently headed off with some popular skeets from journalists/commentators I already follow, and photos & posts about interests like geology, Scotland, etc. No slop anywhere.
Maybe I just need to use it more.
Might be b/c I signed up for a bunch of palate-cleanser feeds - "Astronomy" "Birds!" "Geology" "Gardening" etc. I don't actually click over to those tabs often, but seems like content from them kind of slowly drips into Discover. Maybe it crowds out the viral political stuff.
Yes! Def worth it to follow science feeds and scientists. Progressive academics in general can give some fresh air. Creatives, hobbies, science, def help the discover be less awful. It’s amazing because I don’t think I found scientists as easily anywhere else.
Man I must be doing something different and I wish I knew what it was cuz yall have some of the worst discover feeds. No one deserves to suffer these kinds of atrocities forreal

My "discover" tab is nothing like this. It's mostly left wing accounts, some I follow, some I don't.
The original poster didn’t use alt text on the meme. Shameful. Especially for something they know will get shared wildly because these accounts all share this bullshit amongst each other. But mostly, it’s just a massive insult to those of us who consider resistance a daily act.

The resistance is a Black woman standing up in a congressional committee. It’s a Latino organizer joining the Mamdani campaign. It’s a 20-something barista who takes stock of what right wingers are coming in to the cafe. It’s Dem AGs, pick any one of them. It’s a massive coalition.
It's the 20-30 of us 60-80 years standing up in front of our GOP Senator's while collecting Food Bank donations every Friday.
