The first paragraph makes no sense. It doesn't belong. In fact, without it we would probably just accept the miserable fact the he survived a horrific accident. Seriously, who is stupid enough to think this was a good idea? What are they trying to get in front of?
Do you think they are trying to connect the two incidents? Do you think they are trying to say that maybe the man who abused the woman later hit Giuliani's car? I mean, whatever happened, it's obvious they're lying. I'm just trying to make sense of their motives.
The first paragraph lets us know that he got into some kind of altercation with a prostitute which led to a drunk driving crash.
