I'm amazed nobody was willing to offer more than that.

Eh, he's a cromulent runner who offers little in the passing game, with 1 year left on his deal. If he signs elsewhere afterward, it's unlikely to be a sufficiently large deal to fetch a comp pick. A sixth-rounder seems fair for that, maybe even slightly high ... but SF loves a running back!
Expiring contract on a guy they project as a back up.
He got 800 yards and 8 TDs last season and is 26. Obviously the 49ers think he'll be a backup because they've got an elite back (and now a top tier backup who can fill in if there's another injury), but I figured there are other teams out there who need him more & would have offered more to get him.
The team really promoted him, but he was a reach at the time and never really "the guy" here. Clearly no other team saw him as an impact addition to their roster either.
