Reminds me of the day my new big GSD met my Trixie who wanted to be top dog. The GSD took hold of her head gently and she whimpered and never tried it on with him. He just looked amused.
This is a gentle fox greeting not violence or dominance. The fox on the right is the dominant vixen, the fox on the left is her cub. She was greeted with tail wagging, invites to play and then this behaviour
I understood that. It was just the visual reminder of a precious moment. My two dogs had a great relationship after that one token incident.
For those wondering this is affection and a cub greeting mum by putting her head in his mouth gently.
