actual problem for dems is not that pols regularly use academic jargon (they mainly don't), nor is it that activists and academics have their own jargon that can be alienating to the uninitiated. it's that us media functions like a large scale libs of talk, pushing that jargon to the uninitiated

Being a good citizen means educating yourself if you’ve never had a good grounding in politics. I was lucky enough to have active liberal parents who set off a fire in my belly for politics but I learned as much as I could on my own. Always will.
I have a pet theory that a not-insignificant part of the weird fixation on (sometimes even outright resentment of) academic discourse among journalists and politicians go back to petty school insecurities about who the Smartest Boy in Class was

Classic problem is because the GOP politicians are all literal actual nazis who want white supremacy, people spend a lot of time addressing their dog whistles, or open statements but by giving their obvious bad faith denials a platform. So no one ever bothers to even go as deep as Nick Feuntes
or Alex Jones, or other openly nazi media figures, much less the 20 follower nazi accounts.
IMO the flip side of conservatives complaining about liberal cultural hegemony is they benefit from the mainstream having little idea what they're like. Every so often something briefly breaks through, like how the Speaker of the House and his teenage son are each other's no-fap sponsors.
The right has largely succeeded in its message discipline. Their chosen terminology forces the left to "explain" the dog whistles, which then makes the left look delusional. No reason the left can't take the same approach and gear all communications toward low information voters.
