if they got RFK fired, that would make them seem powerful, like they have agency, and then *gasp* voters might blame them for something that happens with HHS afterwards. can't have that! so, to tie this back to the OP--seems very unlikely dems will rally around this issue

Following their logic, the best thing that could happen is that they all get primaried: Republicans have to wear all of Trump’s actions, and the Dems aren’t running a slate of candidates that have spent two years ostentatiously demonstrating an inability to do anything about Trump’s actions.

Four republicans can switch sides and take us out of this misery.

Yep, some primaries will be necessary. Most Dem leadership should switch to new blood ASAP. Overall, they are terrible at consistent & cohesive messaging. Not meeting the moment at all. They should do it correctly, though, so MAGA doesn't gain anything from it.

Forget the democratic party. Only a few of them are ready to shake things up. They have all kinds of topics they put before the well being of the American people, money, religion, you name it.

Lotta normies lowkey worried about covid vaccines this year and dems could own “we saved your vaxxes” but somehow they seem convinced that anti-vaxxers are a much larger constituency than they actually are.

The thing is, I really wish their good friend from across the aisle Mitch McConnell would explain to them what he learned from 2010–2016: the workings of Congress are illegible to most of the public and even most journalists, and the president is blamed for everything!

this is what makes the "dems are actually resisting to the max" types so fuckin wildly detached from reality. they're out here openly saying to the press that they don't want to obstruct trump's agenda because then voters will blame them for shit. they literally are saying we aren't resisting!

And of course, by not defending the infrastructure of the state, they will make no attempt to rebuild it

I can't stop thinking about how they fight like hell every time a jurisdiction tries to implement some form of instant running voting. And how Biden buried court reform. They know how to fight good things and refuse to fight bad things.

The other reason they act this way is because they're lazy and prefer the path of least resistance. They like taking the easy way

The people who advise this strategy don't conceive of the Democratic Party as having any purpose apart from winning the next election. The best thing they can ever offer voters is the chance to catch our collective breaths before the next terrifying free fall.

I remember in like 2016 pelosi saying something like "we can't use the nuclear option, we need our arrows in the quiver" and I knew then and there she'd die with them undrawn.
