This is a very outsider framing of her. I’m proud to have her defend our city, but her administration has been kind of a shitshow and affordability has only gotten worse as she prioritizes “progressive” policies that accelerate displacement of the lower and middle class.
Going to disagree a bit on this… her admin has gotten blamed for a lot of long term affordability trends that they’re trying to fight against. And defending/cheerleading for the city is a big part of the job!
Johnson is the latest in a long line of failures sitting in the 5th floor of City Hall. Excellence is an impediment to winning the job.
The difference is easy to explain. Johnson is black and a significant percentage of whites can't abide that. Look at how conservatives went maga crazy because Obama had the temerity to become president.

I'm going to leave this here. It's been the same thing Zohran and any smart Progressive has been saying since November 2024. Liberals want to play the distraction game with Republicans and debate social issues like 4 trans kids playing soccer in Oklahoma while people can't afford food and shelter.
I think the message to Congress (basically - I do my job. Now you do yours) mets the moment perfectly, calmly & factually.
