Yep. It was the managers right call. And Hoffman blew it. If he had set down the side we wouldn't have had this discussion. And I've enjoyed this debate. I'm just not swayed because you've not given me a reason to throw aside the managers' playbook in this situation. Hoffman is still our guy.
Hoffman is not our highest leverage reliever. He’s shown that throughout the season blowing saves and giving up runs in close games. We have Rodriguez, Little, Nance who should be used in those situations. Hoffman works best with a two or more run lead. He’s proven that. “Ifs” mean nothing.
