'The starters were assorted deep-fried pellets of unidentifiable organic matter; the meat was cold and colourless . . . the roast potatoes soggy and the yorkshire pudding chewy as a dishcloth.' @steverose7.bsky.social on the decline of British pub food. www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Such a terrible shame, I’m glad I got to experience the good times but indeed the last 10 years I’ve not eaten well in a pub. I blame pub co’s the most!

My meals in pubs when I've been on holiday in UK have been very poor - along the lines described. While some pubs offer good, freshly cooked food, feels as if a lot don't.

When I traveled around Britain with my parents on our summer holidays we always ate in pubs and we always ate well, it’s such a shame the tide has changed!

Maybe try paying kitchen staff a decent wage?

Good story. Yet some pub food is better than ever. Also not mentioned is that for many urban pubs its a way of hooking 20-somethings in for an afternoon of TV football assisted drinking
