Exactly, where was this. A strategic approach to publishing is absolutely fundamental to career success in academia, but unless you had a switched-on research supervisor or invested mentor, how would you ever know?

I’d say not many supervisors genuinely care about educating their PhD students on navigating academic research. Those who do tend to be ECRs who understand the challenges involved. That’s why it’s fantastic for people like @susannbeier.bsky.social to share their experiences and tips on this!
