In a statement to X on Friday, Phang announced that her show, which began airing in 2022, had been canceled. The Katie Phang Show is among many programs cut since Rebecca Kutler, the new head of MSNBC, took charge of the liberal network a few months ago. It's shame!!!

Rebecca Kutler has let go a lot of the diversity that encouraged me to watch MSNBC exclusively. Now I use a channel changer and flip through to other networks. It’s not the same shows that kept my attention anymore. I regret the changes. I’m not the avid fan of MSNBC I once was.
I’ve given up mainstream news. It’s too frustrating, and so obviously slanted. Most are owned by billionaire GOP donors.

It's funny, I've always had a love for 'defunct' tech - I still have minidiscs, CDs, tapes, and what-not. I listen to digital and streaming radio a lot, but in the kitchen I have a nice old Roberts receiver, and I own 3 modern, full waveband SW receivers, as well as a portable CB set.
It's only just become clear to me as to how useful this can be.

Because I have time today, here are some facts about Michael Steele. He coined the phrase "Drill Baby Drill” at the 2008 RNC. In 2009 he called Rush Limbaugh to apologize for having the audacity to publicly say that, as RNC chair, it was he who spoke for the GOP, and not Limbaugh. 1/
His mea culpa included “I truly apologize" and “I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh.” In 2010 Steele launched the “Fire Nancy Pelosi” bus tour resulting in the RNC raising over 198M, breaking fundraising records, and helping the GOP retake the house in the midterms, & add GOP senate seats. 2/
In 2009 he claimed climate change a hoax, saying the Earth is actually "cooling" and denied "the supposed warming.” In 2008 he said that Roe v Wade was “wrongly decided” and that he opposed abortion. In 2006, Steele compared stem cell research to Nazi medical experiments. He later apologized. 3/
In 2010, he blamed Obama for the Afghanistan war, instead of George W. Bush; John McCain said that Steele’s comments were “wildly inaccurate ... there is no excuse for them." Steele supported the Iraq war and George W. Bush’s war strategy. 4/
In 2010 he published his book “Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda.” In 2009 Steele said "secure our borders first" and "you cannot begin to address the concerns of the people who are already here” unless “you have made certain that no more are coming in behind them." 5/
And, even though he supported Biden in 2020, and didn’t endorse tRump in 2016, he also didn’t vote for Hillary, either. 6/
So, even though you might think he’s “pretty good,” and “adore” or “respect” him, the fact is that he is at least partially responsible for the current authoritarian takeover of our government. 7/
MSNBC has fired progressive women of color (Cross, Reid, Phang) to push this conservative man front and center during their daily 7pm hour. They have also promoted other prominent conservative voices, including Joe Scarborough (another insufferable windbag) and Nicole Wallace. 8/
However, Wallace and Scarborough have both publicly left the GOP, and, as Jane Fonda correctly said recently, we have to expand our tent to include folks like them. I can forgive, but I won’t forget. 9/
That’s probably why Simone (sp) keeps her job on the Weekend is because of Steele.
I adore Michael though. He’s Republican but he has integrity.
Adore is a bit far for me, but I have come to respect him.
Why isn’t there space for her to give her legal analysis as a guest on any show, or fill in for others, instead of the same guests giving the same opinions. Bad decision to move Alex Witt of as an anchor, to get rid of Joy Reid & Katie Phang. Bad decision to keep Rachel Maddow on at least 3 nights
