if you treat other people respectfully, are open about what you are [not] interested in, and drive towards improving yourself: you will basically never have any trouble attracting people who are interested in being around you, and it will always come naturally to you (plus, you'll be happier)

Also understand yourself, what you want, and what makes *you* truly happy. You cannot love and support others fully until you can begin to love and support yourself.

like, not to put too fine a point on it, but do you know how many women I've talked with about my ham radio hobby? it's the ultimate nerd shit. AND YET. or, idk, go listen to andrew tate talk about how you need to make money to buy comically large cigars or something idfk, i'm just a queer online

Can't speak for anyone but myself--but I, for one, would like to know more. For instance, do you think other means of communication have mostly taken over the function that ham radio once served? Or do you think it still has value as a backup for emergencies, in case other options fail?

sure! so ham radio is basically the only comms mechanism that does not rely on any infrastructure besides the radio/antenna itself. so, in something like a disaster, remote area, etc ham radio will always work because there's nothing to actually fail - no wires to fall, no satellite to overload, etc

That's kind of what I thought--that ham radio would be useful to have, under certain circumstances. It's a wonder more people don't go in for it!

but in many ways, yes, other modes have def eclipsed ham (and really CB too). people used to radio their spouse that they were on the way home from [location] or such and that is a *totally* dead use case now, everyone just sends texts

It's funny, I was just wishing the other day that I had a CB in my car on a roadtrip like my parents had when I was a kid.

- be interested in something and be able to talk about why you enjoy it - be able to ask the person a question, and then a relevant follow-up question based on their response - understand consent - exec pantydrop.bat

Also, meet for coffee first. If you can't manage 20 minutes or so in each others company then theres no point going further. Also no one is put out greatly in either time or cost so its less stress for everyone. It's also a 'lower threat' setting since theres no alcohol unlike going for a drink

Probably the single best indicator for success in dating that I’ve ever seen is the ability to take “no thanks” for an answer (or say it yourself!) and quickly move along. As the saying goes, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

As a folllowup, I should say that this sounds like a pretty blithe statement but it's actually a difficult skill to master! We're social creatures, and hearing _one_ person say "nah, you're not my thing" is hard. Hearing dozens of them and not taking it to heart takes practice to put it mildly.

Maybe you're just not meeting them in the right kind of places? Because you're smart and you're handsome, so unless you have the personality of an orc or a wet log, you just haven't met enough of the right person.

They really don't get it. It's the handsome ones I stay away from: they expect you to admire them all the time. I wanted a relationship with a whole human being with fully developed thoughts and feelings, not an actor posing for pussy.
