The special consideration is an existing rule that is available to everyone, not just the people affected by the discriminatory policies here. It wasn't some imaginary thing & is a rule that exists for everyone. Additionally, I dont care. It was allowed, now its not. GOP should be attacked over it.

Obviously the gop should be attacked, and I knew the special consideration always existed but it was never an “early retirement” because the consideration was never going to be approved. There exists no world in which the admin would approve a single special consideration for early retirement

You can’t call it retirement when the consideration was never going to get approved. Call it what it is

Call it whatever you want. It is, literally, the Temporary Early Retirement Authority policy. It was promised in May, then they took it back. Not gonna keep going back and forth in pedantry over it. Have a great day!

I’m really confused why you seem so counted to giving these freaks making these decisions the benefit of the doubt when the exact opposite should be the case. This current govt has shown time and again that it lies pathologically.

The Temporary Early Retirement Authority policy that would never get approved and never result in actual early retirement

They're firing transgender service members and they are not offering them any special consideration to take early retirement, nor did they ever intend to offer them such consideration. Hence it's misleading to say they're being forcibly retired, because they're not being offered retirement benefits.

The US air force, specifically and clearly, offered retirement benefits for individuals with between 15 and 18 years of service as of May 2025. Hegseth clawed it back. They were being forcibly discharged with retirement benefits. I'm not going to discuss further and I'm muting the thread now.

Eric's post above says transgender service members are being forced into early retirement. That is factually incorrect. It doesn't matter what the Air Force supposedly "offered" as of May 2025. Trans service members are being forcibly discharged *and* excluded from any early retirement benefits.

A benefit that exists on paper for everyone, but for which in practice a particular group of people are intentionally and completely excluded from is not, in fact, available to everyone. It's like saying everyone could register to vote under Jim Crow because registration was legally open to all.
