I spent a wonderful evening with the vibrant Guinean community in Co-op City yesterday. So grateful for the hospitality, delicious food and productive conversations about the future of the Bronx and our city.

My favorite part of the US being an immigrant community is the food. Everyone who comes here brings their A game food and it is always delicious!! Love this!

Mine is human rights though food is second. Most Guinean's in NYC have undergone severe hardship to get here. Its something to be proud of that NYC is still welcoming when the entire western world has closed its doors to asylum seekers. Its our win - good people, educated, great music and food. Win.

My mom saw Louis Armstrong in a concert there when that area was an amusement park. I worked in Waldbaum's Supermarket in Co-op City, in the deli, when I was in high school (my neighbor was the mother of the boxing judge, Lederman). I used to ride my bicycle there. Immigrants help make NYC great!

The govt of Guinea is a major human rights violator. It is particularly savage toward the Fulani people. The Central Prison in Conakry, the capital, is one of the worst centers of human rights abuses in the world. CECOT level savagery. NYC is a sanctuary. I'm proud of that. Good outreach Zohran!
