Eastern Parkway always feels like the heartbeat of New York during the West Indian Day Parade — the food, the flags, the dancehall and soca. Caribbean culture makes this city great 🇹🇹🇭🇹🇧🇧🇩🇲🇱🇨🇯🇲🇻🇨🇬🇩🇬🇾

Third stop on this picture perfect Sunday was New Jerusalem Church of God Apostolate in Jamaica, a wonderful congregation under the leadership of Bishop Altamont George Blackwood. I'm so grateful for their hospitality and the opportunity to share the vision of our campaign.

One week ago, thousands of New Yorkers tried something new. They heard about it last minute. They didn’t know where it would take them or who they would meet. It was free, earnest, even educational. It was the #ZcavengerHunt and it was a thing of beauty.
Ahead of J’Ouvert and the West Indian Day Parade, it was an honor to receive the endorsement of my friend and colleague Assemblywoman Monique Chandler-Waterman. And I can think of no better way to celebrate than with a walking tour of Little Caribbean.

As kids return to school, another mass shooting has stolen young lives. Children shouldn’t fear their classrooms. Teachers shouldn’t risk their lives. Parents shouldn’t wonder if their kids will come home. We are the only country with more guns than people—and this is the devastating result.

In the week since relaunching neighborhood canvasses, our volunteers have knocked more than 91k doors across the five boroughs — including 25k this weekend. That's in addition to the 4,000 people who turned out for the #ZcavengerHunt.

This morning we gathered on McGuinness Blvd. After a beloved Greenpoint teacher was killed in a crash, the local community thought they had won a transformative redesign of this dangerous road — then the work was halted by City Hall corruption. As Mayor, I’ll finish the job.
We finished #ZcavengerHunt around 6pm and waited in line for a little over an hour. This was a great way to spend the day. We finished it using public transport. We talked to some fun people in the line. It was nice to visit parts of the city I normally wouldn't go to and learn about past NYC mayors

When police are made to respond to every single failure of the social safety net, this is the result: forced overtime, declining quality of life, an exodus of officers. Our proposal for a Dept. of Community Safety will allow police to do the jobs they actually signed up for.
Last week, ICE arrested a six-year-old Queens public school student at her family's scheduled check-in. This morning, she was deported along with her mother. One of her siblings remains in detention. The cruelty of this federal administration knows no bounds.

At (another) Hampton’s fundraiser with Republican donors on Saturday, Andrew Cuomo said it plainly: he’s expecting Trump’s help to defeat us in November. “I feel good about that,” Cuomo said. New Yorkers won’t.
