There is actually a fair bit of truth to that relatively mild "pushback" from some of the God believing Unitarian Universalists you've encountered, and it certainly doesn't amount to intolerance or bigotry. The #atheism of many #atheists is based upon very simplistic "logic" that is quite flawed.

I would call it one side of a theological debate about to what extent atheist beliefs about God's non-existence are founded of what may be termed "faith".

Obviously "of" should be "on". I will add that, putting aside atheist beliefs about the non-existence of God being founded on flawed simplistic beliefs about God that may be termed "faith", atheists certainly can and do "act on faith", albeit not faith in God, in their daily lives in various ways.

I think that atheists mention bible contradictions and the problem with evil to specifically refute the Abrahamic god, not to universally state that no gods exist. I'm sure there are some who say that but it's pretty rare. I see those as good reasons to not buy into that one god, sure.

It definitely exists. It may not be as bad now as it was in the late 20th century & early 2000s, but I have experienced it myself & I've seen God believing UUs complaining about it. Former UUA president Rev. Peter Morales expressed #antireligious bad attitude in his "stump speech". #UUA #UUism
