Point taken, but as with Liz Truss, her position (as opposed to the govts) was untenable. I just don't see how Reform could remove him if they thought it would save their party.

They are a shambolic party anyway - if it came to it, large numbers would quit the party/government. The issue would be how they would vote in a (Commons) non-confidence vote.

I agree. The concern would be that this not being a "party bugger than it's leader" would throw up a bigger problem in his removal, but I also note that people who work with him inevitably turn against him, so it may end up being a moot point.

The mechanism is actually very simple: you just pass a vote of No Confidence. All the paraphernalia of "letters in" and so on is just a mechanism to avoid the embarrassment of doing that. But internal rules - like a Tory leader being "safe from challenge" for a year - have no standing in Parliament.
