starting from the premise that he is first and foremost a democrat and has always been a democrat, and acknowledging that you have to do the work whether people show up or not are both pretty encouraging and set him apart from the usual, imo

We lied and said we were in love with him Dont want re-Fetterman We dreamed in color, he dreams in red Stuck with this Fetterman Dont be a Fetterman, can't find a better man
Anyways who's to say why a whole bunch of left leaning people are scared
pro Palestine, seems generally thoughtful, had someone On Here vouch for him not that of course that means anything if you don't know that personality either, which I do not (via propter, somewhere)
considering that he was saying the opposite only days before, i wonder what changed
i haven’t seen that. i have seen him say things that are harshly critical of the party, but that’s not mutually exclusive to being a loyal party voter (ask literally anyone on this website, me included)
yeah, but that's not what he said then, he portrayed himself as a maverick who might as well run as an independent( and in this state, he could)
As long as his actual positions haven't changed on a dime, I don't think him exploring how best to brand himself--frankly, a lot of people don't vote on platform so much as label or lack thereof and vibes--is that big a deal in itself. Angus whosit runs as I after all, as does (sigh) Sanders
Plus he's had therapy.
I hope Mills also does run mainly because i think it’d be good for him to have real competition and see if he can pull it off before he gets to Collins. Sky’s the limit if he does
I thought I saw that he says if she runs, he won't, but I could be imagining things
there are at least couple other people who might run if Mills doesn't, so he wouldn't have primary for himself
There's good indicators that this isnt about ego, too, whereas Fetterman and Sinema were definitely ambitious "me, me, me" types*. I think the sentiment that "If you believe in a better world, you need to get right with the fact that you may never see it" is maybe the greenest flag in dem politics.
And the way he talks about power, like, he gets it. I've been duped before, and I've knowingly overlooked red flags, but... so far I dont see any red flags to ignore beyond "if he weren't saying all this lib shit we'd assume he's a right-winger".
And of course, stereotyping based on appearance alone is generally unwise!
there don't appear to be any major "here's where I'm a maverick and break from the party on ___ policy" issues, either, except to the extent that relatively normal socdem positions are not the dominant ideology of the party establishment
His difference from the Democratic Party establishment seems to fall mainly along the lines of posture and temperament, rather than policy He seems very critical of the ride-in-the-slipstream approach of the kind that Schumer and Jeffries have seemed to pursue; he wants something more pugilistic
yeah assuming there is no Dark Secret here or unknown major problem, i'd happily take about 100 more "inexperienced" candidates with these same general priorities
agreed
his campaign website's pretty good, not flirting with any ""anti-woke"" cringe or anything. honestly pretty baseline Dem but with an aesthetic that's not robotic
Pointless wars is better then some phrases, a bunch of military engagements have a point
im not getting a "weird about Ukraine" vibe if that's what you're alluding to, but yeah
I'm alluding to not thinking every military engagement is iraq
right it's not like fetterman where it's like "well we hope that his bad opinions on israel just don't become salient" and, well, oops. or, worse, a pro-lifer Manchin type.
i will maintain my baseline level of "can't trust a politician" but so far what im seeing is pretty good
That and it sounds like his answer to "How do you farm oysters?" includes an unprompted shout out to the work done at Rutgers.
Yeah he's no Gleusenkamp Perez
*Sideshow Bob grumbling*
