They were colleagues at Imagine Software, a Liverpool games studio that closed the same year. Over three decades Psygnosis became one of the most influential game studios in the UK. They developed and published some of the most loved and iconic games of the 80s and 90s. 'Shadow of the Beast', 'Destruction Derby' and 'Wipeout' are some of their best-known hits. They worked with developers both in the city and across the country, providing a springboard for new talent. One key partnership was with DMA Design based in Dundee. Their first games published by Psygnosis were 'Menace' (1988) and 'Blood Money' (1989). However, it was 'Lemmings' (1991) that became a world-wide success, selling millions of copies. It was the company's ability to collaborate and to create eye-catching games which established their reputation as a legendary studio amongst developers and gamers alike.
