This is from an Abundance thread where I finally convinced this self-described "empath" that I am not literally Ronald Reagan and in fact we substantively agree on many things. I don't think they realize this extreme hostility is never going to yield political success.

I've interacted with that person a few times, and I kind of doubt they are. They are a legit caricature of everything that alienates people from their movement; I'm not a conspiracy person, but they feel like a psyop by the right with how they interact with anyone who slightly disagrees with them.
It's possible, but I don't think the left is immune to that kind of attitude. It's a personality problem. I've met someone in real life like that. It could also be that right-wingers habitually egg them on, fueling their defensive extremism.
Yeah, that’s probably true, but they are just *so* bad. Like, the worst I’ve seen in years by far.
The right has been the worst I've seen in my whole life (can't speak to the Civil Rights era). I can't help but think the two are related. Extremists reacting to extremists, and trying to force the mushy center to take sides. But the right is more wrong. Actions > words.
