The new Tesla Diner is open in Los Angeles and I won’t speak on political things but $11 breakfast tacos?! In the city of Los Angeles?! With American cheese?! $13 for A HOT DOG?!

A photographer on scene tells me of the $13 hot dog at the newly opened Tesla Diner in Los Angeles that it’s “The driest, most flavorless wiener I have had the displeasure of putting in my mouth.” Another- “a robot scoops popcorn into buckets, and at least 50% of the volume of the scoop falls out.”

No, it's true, but it's supposed to be a high-tech machine capable of many things, and it was deliberately limited to a very basic and repetitive action. Musk's investors should question the true capabilities of the machine they helped fund.

After all, Tesla is currently on trial for overselling the capabilities of its flagship product. It's a precedent that should have already alerted investors to this company, whose stock price is already abnormal (because of unrealistic promises) by industry standards and the quantities it sells.

This wouldn't be the first time with Elon's robots but it's not necessary Musk's robots are supposed to be powered by AI and mimic humans. But this one has only one task to do and doesn't even need to move its legs. You don't need a human for a simple fairground automaton.

IMO that depends upon the nature of the hot dog in question.

A large hot dog and a foil-lined tray of chili fries atop a red plastic tray on a white table in bright sunlight, with not one but two cans of Diet Coke behind. The hot dog has a very large sausage that extends well past either end of the bun, and has visible mustard, chili, onions, and sauerkraut atop it.

The two hosts of THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF dressed in a cartoonishly racist stereotypical depiction of Mexicans in serapes and sombreros. $12 for 4 pieces of bacon??? We made this bacon for about $30 (with a pork belly from Whole Foods) and I guarantee it's better than Elon's.

A cute Ikea rat admires beautiful, smokey slabs of home smoked, home cured bacon.

The problem with this diner is that it operates as a drive-in as well as a charging station; meaning its an overpriced gas station where it is EXPECTED for those charging up to be there for at LEAST an hour. It actually HIGHLIGHTS issues with tesla cars rather than advertises its qualities.

Every restaurant and beef producer has figured out that "wagyu" is not a regulated term and there is no legally binding definition, they can slap the word "wagyu" into any ol' beef (produced in any country) as a vacuous marker of class status that otherwise denotes nothing. Thus, "wagyu chili."

Don't get me started in the fact that the word wagyu, 和牛, literally just means "Japanese beef," but they transliterated instead of translating because exoticizing things from nonwhite countries sells better in the US than just being matter-of-fact.
