One peripheral good thing about the Trump regime is that it feels like it shut down some of the ”just asking questions” non-US alt-right-leaning individuals. the ones that have enough self-awareness to be afraid of being laughed at if bringing up ”woke censorship”

see also: Musk stans. Like 8 years ago you’d get multiple random acquaintances defending him if whenever you posted something Musk-sceptical on Facebook. That stopped entirely after Trump II.

I kinda think this even has political relevance in places where this stuff isn’t as embedded in the US political allegiances but where US politics is fairly followed, like in Finland, translating to measurable drops in credibility for people who *don’t* understand to distance themselves.
