ain't Trump, it's the entire far right, ever since Gingrich. liberals say "ohh you leftists and your identity politics loudly pushing for LGBTQ rights and real black history, you are to blame" but we would have ended up here regardless. It was the ACA that got the Tea Party rolling.
It was decades of showing up at local elections, gaining state houses, mapping out Republican congressional seats. they played the long game Trump was unexpected, they wanted a Mike Pence type. They're using his cult of personality as best as they can, but once he's gone they're gonna keep going.
