What else’s you got growing over there, neighbor?

Just the potatoes. They replaced an elephant ear plant that I had in that pot. I'm going to see about planting some butternut squash seeds I have from last year. I've always just kept a couple of plants alive. This is me dipping my toe into food. Trying to channel my granny on my mom's side.

If I ever get enough space for a full garden I'm going to be growing a lot more. Gotta get ready to sustain myself lol. But right now I'm in pots and planters.

This is one area I need to grow in, tbh. I love the garden, but gardening itself is not my thing 🥹

It's something I've learned to love. It's healing for me because gardening has taught me one major thing that made it all click. For something to grow and flourish, sometimes we have to experience death and loss. You don't get to be nourished all the time but when it comes, life is glorious.

As a professing follower of Jesus, I do believe some things have to die before they can resurrect and take new life. So this resonates with me deeply. However, the work of tiling the ground and weeding or nurturing the plants has become hard on my disabled body. That and the heat, I’m out ✌🏽

But I will cook the fruits of our labor for the community when the apocalypse comes. No doubt 🫡

I completely understand. You gotta get you a Melvin to tend to your garden and let you sit in the shade with a lovely drink and kick your feet up.
