I'm worried so much will change in four years the next president won't be able to stem the tide. The US is headed toward an extremist dictatorship and I'm not sure how that will shake out long term. Will all the states follow? Will some rebel? What will come of Canada? I hate this.

I was waking up scared every morning. I also see either the US sinking into authoritarianism or violence breaking out on a large scale. My husband’s green card is up for renewal in a few months so we decided the only safe option was to leave. We left in May, but I am mourning and terribly sad.

That is kind of you to ask. Mostly I feel sad, but I have to acknowledge how privileged I am. Because my kids and I have access to duel nationality we have choices others do not. Therefore I also feel guilty.
