One of the more cursed things about me is the first time I fired an AK-47 it jammed, before I could even get thru ten rounds. I managed to jam the so called unjammable gun simply by touching it

No gun is 'unjammable'. All it takes is one dud round to screw things up.

And I carried an M-16 for years and never had a problem. The story was you could throw an AK in the mud, pick it up, and fire it, while an M-16 would jam.

Was it new or old? I've read that mass shooters prefer new guns because they are less likely to jam.

The AK is massively overhyped in that regard. The main benefit is that they're cheap and plentiful.

Uh, they’re not cheap, have you looked at the prices lately? ARs are available for a few hundred dollars. AKs, not even close, even the crap American ones.
