Every time I consider getting a cat, I see a video of them doing the most outlandish shit... like coming out of nowhere and slapping the shit out of their owner... Yeah ... it couldn't be me They would end up a shamisen

first time they do that, scruff them and hiss in their face if there's a second time, gently demonstrate that your mouth is bigger than their entire head there's usually not a third time and they'll pay attention if you hiss again (technique learned from my basically-a-druid roommate)
Now I can't get the image of a shamisen with a little cat head and belly out of my head. π I've heard that referring to a cat as a "shamisen" in Japan is like calling one a tennis racket. Lemme see if anyone's actually tried to make one like it . . . oh wait!
π
It all depends upon the temperament. Many cats are friendly, affectionate, even a little clingy. Shorter version: they will treat you as you treat them. Some breeds are less rambunctious than others. Like Ragdolls, Russian Blues, tuxedos - full of personality but not piss & vinegar.
Hey there..haven't seen your posts lately, hope you and of course your Dad are well!

He's about to slap the shit out of me isn't he? πππ
He's a Big Ole Gentle Giant π₯Ή This one though...she'll bleed you out in your sleep. π
And that's the thing I guess, you never know what kind of cat you're gonna get until it either sits there and be chill or slaps the shit out of you... or sprays all over youπππ I just wanna chill munchkin cat because they are so cute
I wouldn't have guessed little 6 pound Mable was the mean one π

My daughterβs boyfriend has a cat, but the cat doesnβt like her. We think sheβs possessive. Glad to see youβre posting again. Hope you, your Dad and Zia are well.

I have a cat curled up in a box next to me right now, but that's not video-worthy. Most cat behavior is boring. The main thing to remember with cats is that they aren't dogs and they want to choose when to interact with you. You can offer, and they may accept, or they may decline. That's fine.
There's *nothing* crazy about this behavior π. For her to get here she had to go bed, dresser, half wall around main bedroom, jump across hall to 2nd bedroom half wall, jump open doorway to half wall creating closet. And she's always contemplating the ductwork wondering how to get there.
That's what makes them great.
Thatβs why itβs good to have two so they can slap the π© out of each other.
I once wanted an Abyssinian. (They're beautiful!) And then friends warned me that if I did, to get two, and be prepared for Absolute Mayhem. I realized that, as I worked long hours, having two wild kittens would NOT work. But I'd still love two. π₯°
For me, it's mostly just watching them chase each other around, slapping the happy out of each other. They come to me to cuddle and complain about each other.
