There are days when I think that there's no comparison between what's going on in the US and Hong Kong. Then there are days when I think: "I wish Americans/the world paid attention to what was -- as well as is -- happening to Hong Kong" -- in terms of authoritarians (Chinese and otherwise) do.
How precious and precarious must these regimes be to not even tolerate a chalk protest. I despair at the way the west is embracing increasing authoritarianism.
BTW, the Hong Kong case/article was from January 20*15*.

I wish more people realized the ways in which the US and China (as well as HK) are similar including wealth inequality, suppression of free speech and threats to human rights, but I don’t think most people are ready for this conversation 😔
Someday… not in my lifetime though, most Americans will stop being so narrow-minded, and open their eyes and minds…
