I really f**king love Hong Kong, and Funassyi! Bluesky user #55,617 -- joined in May 2023! -- but am also "over there" too. Yes, I'm still straddling between Twitter and here (because there still are not enough Hongkongers and Funatomo here!).

Weird what happens at night in our dreams/nightmares, huh? I also have dreams where I visit and hang out with friends living in distant lands that I've not set foot in years/decades. Bittersweet but, on the whole, I welcome having those. 🥹

Why can't you stand "sweater"? Too American a word for you?

Many Indonesia social media accounts change colours of their logos to pink & green. Pink: homage to the pink hijab worn by a woman who confronted police officers. Green: a tribute to the online motorcycle taxi driver ran over by a police vehicle.

I think maximum points is a big "ask" but them dropping points (as well as/maybe more than Arsenal) is totally NOT impossible!

I'm not on Instagram but have heard that Funassyi is also on there -- though not as actively as with Twitter.

I think it's because a number of them are/were on high wages and injury prone. Though that doesn't explain Kiwior.

I woke up at around 4am and saw that Arsenal had got Hincapie in and Lokonga, Kiwior and Vieira out. Went back to bed and when I got up a few hours later, saw that Zinchenko and Nelson were out the door too! What a transfer window this has been! 10/10 re the incomings! Am glad Zinchenko's gone.

I was actually more afraid of Liverpool getting Guehi than Isak. As it is, I feel they have weaknesses in defence still -- and it's entirely possible that Isak could so discontent in Ekitike/the Liverpool camp as a whole.

RIP Graham Greene. Every time he popped up on screen when I was a kid, my mom would excitedly point him out for being an actual Native on the screen. Able to be deadly serious and infinitely hilarious (even in smaller roles like Last of Us), he ate up the screen. Nʌki’wah brother.

Two nights ago, I had a smartphone nightmare. In it, I was walking when a cockatoo's cry startled me and I dropped my phone, which promptly broke into pieces. My reaction: "How I miss my old undestructible Nokia regular phone!" Which I'd still be using if Hong Kong had not stopped 2G services!

Great piece. I had issues with how Arteta/Arsenal approached the game and fixated on that because I'm an Arsenal fan. Do resent the media narrative though as it makes it seem like only Arteta/Arsenal approached the game conservatively whereas Liverpool did so too.

Feeling surprising okay the afternoon after. Is it because the Liverpool vs Arsenal game was played on August 31st -- an emotional anniversary date for Hongkongers or because it came so early in the EPL season? In any case, hope springs eternal for this Hong Kong Arsenal fan!

And now we go into an international break. After just 3 matches played in the new season. PLEASE let no (more) Arsenal players get injured before EPL Matchday #4. And it WOULD be nice to see some of the injured Arsenal players recover and be fit to play again after the international break!

DAMMIT. This one is on Arteta for being overly cautious and setting up to draw rather than win. He needs to trust his players more, and from the start. Speaking of which: Cristhian Mosquera did good. Kudos to him.

There have been Funassyi trains in operation a couple of times over the years. Currently though, there is "only" a Funassyi bus... that's rather maverick, like the Pear (Fairy) itself: that doesn't have fixed route; rather, it changes routes daily, albeit always within Funabashi!
YTSL (@ytsl.bsky.social)
Many of us saw this on live stream in real time or shortly afterwards on video shared on social media. As well as the attacks. Resulting on all of us experiencing/suffering collective trauma. Six years on, even writing about this makes my heart beat really hard and ache. Never forgive...

BTW, sections of the film were filmed in the Prince Edward area of Hong Kong (as well as the lead male character being named Edward). Filming took place well before August 31st, 2019, and can be seen as serving as a historical record/reminder of how things used to be there, and Hong Kong at large.

Back in the fall of 2019, Norris Wong's "My Prince Edward" premiered at the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival. It wasn't about what happened at Prince Edward MTR station on August 31st that year but some people chose not to watch it as they were triggered by its title. A pity, as it's a good film.
