Ah, the perennial academic question: do I set this helpful reading for my students, even though it's by someone I profoundly dislike?

a few of my professors have done so, showcasing what about their work is useful, but also showing where it's faults lie and what about the wider context of it may be questionable, and I found that to be very helpful in engaging with academic writings and being more critical myself!

That sounds very valuable. This is more someone where I think the work is fine, but the person is... ick.

In that case perhaps it could have use as a little excursion of "don't just verify your sources but also the author of your sources", but it is very much a more complicated issue then, I fear I don't have any good help for that
