With my 11-year-old iMac having reached the point where the OS refuses to even open Adobe Acrobat, I have finally caved and ordered a SHINY SHINY (blue) new one. (I do not wish to hear about alternatives. I am aware. I have made an informed decision. Celebratory responses only please.)
My shiny new MacBook Air has potentially saved me from not being able to work, so I’m definitely celebrating this right with you

Whoop! My 13 year old MacBook still works perfectly, aside from this 👆🏻 kind of thing. It's infuriating.
YES. It's very annoying to have to replace it when it does function perfectly well otherwise! I'm going to wipe it and see if perhaps someone locally (a teenager maybe?) might like it. Mac think it's only worth recycling.
It's always been the case with my Macs... they don't die, they just become less usable as Apple stops supporting them. 13 years is a record for me, though 🙃

Yay! Today is Replace Tech Day! This am I bought a new display to replace my 20-yr-old Apple Cinema Display that takes up 1 of my two ports on my MacBook and can't be used as a hub or plugged into any other hub because DVI. It still functions beautifully as a monitor but I can't work like this.

You’re on the right side of history. Sadly replacing my perfectly functioning 6yr old iMac because it can’t support the latest Teams (obligatory for work). Pity they no longer make the bigger screens.
YES. I'm frustrated by that, so I spend ages looking at the Mac Mini and thinking about displays and webcams. And in the end I caved and bought the 24 inch because it was all just so much easier. (Also frustrated to have a replace a functioning iMac because the software is unsupported.)
I was thinking of the Mac mini/screen route. Probably will still do that, though yes = faff!

Often also no speakers (though not always).
NB If you do buy a new Mac, check whether your work have discount vouchers for the shopping. Our 'Deal' platform means I could get 3% off by buying the vouchers and then using them to buy the iMac.

Enjoy all that shiny newness! And speed! I still have my 15-year-old iMac here in my study. Occasionally switch it on so I can listen to it chuntering to life for half an hour. One of these days I really must transfer my files off it. 😬

Yeah, it took me 12 years to crack and buy a MacBook. It would have been easier if it had actually broken at any point. I miss the big screen though...
It's a testament to the intuitive nature of a Mac that those of us who use one become emotionally attached to them.
Still have a 2011 MacBook Pro that I use every day; Dropped in an SSD and increased the memory. Made all the difference in the world. And that’s not even the oldest Mac I have in the house! They do last a long time.
