Rang 111 Wales over stomach complaint. Was asked, "What was your gender assigned at birth?", "Do you still identify as that gender?" Confused why nonclinical admin needed my gender. If my health issue was gender-specific, a trained clinical professional could ask whether my body has a womb, etc. 🤔🙂

My standard response would be . "Huh? I'm a woman. I called about a nosebleed what's that got to do with my diagnosis? You are collecting data you don't need in breach of the GDP regulations"

Wish I'd said that! Unfortunately it was 2am and I was doubled over in pain on my bathroom floor after vomiting for 2 hrs when they were interrogating me. I wasn't completely sure of my own name at that point. It was my first time calling them so I'll be better prepared if there's a next time. 😊

Good point. Sorry. I was insensitive. I was thinking of the few times I've called them and just feeling rebellious. That sounds awful. I hope you are well recovered now

Not at all, you weren't insensitive. It was earlier this year so I've recovered. Every encounter we have as trans folk is loaded with the possibility of unexpected questions about our gender. I'm learning from experience what I'll tolerate. Unsure I'd be comfortable answering those questions again.🙂
