Ive had an anxiety disorder & PTSD since my early teens in large part due to my mom's abusive ex-husband. Ive been on SSRIs off and on since my early 20s. I also have ADHD and have been taking adderall or vyvanse off and on since I was 14. I also am trans and take testosterone. Im not violent.
SSRIs, adhd medications and testosterone have all dramatically improved my quality of life. I restarted sertraline in early October after not needing it for several years, because my mom being in the ICU then dying severely exacerbated my anxiety. Its been very very helpful.
Many people take these medications and they help them to function, to have healthy lives, to have happy lives. Ive seen first hand how the right regimen of therapy and medication lead two of my very best friends who had been hospitalized for suicidality multiple times go on to become healthy!
