The crowd should be allowed to cheer really loudly at golf and tennis matches. You can go totally wild at a baseball game, and those hitters don't even make contact a lot of the time. I've never seen a pro miss a golf ball.

Have definitely seen pro golfers shank shots, but not necessarily because of the crowd. Hitting a shot properly every time does demand a lot of concentration. From a purely aesthetic perspective, the “noisy” environment in LIV tour is just obnoxious. Like people talking loudly at a good concert.

Watch the shot, cheer and shout after. It’s really not that difficult of a norm for most performance based mediums.

Okay but shanking a shot is different than whiffing!

Have seen a near whiff (Zach Johnson at the Masters doing practice swings, I think…). Still not caused by crowd, but by his own lapse of focus, which is kind of the point.

Hahah this is kind of the opposite right? Hitting it by accident?

Wrong this is sports not cheerleading! You really don't get when concentration is key!

I guess you could compare fouling off a pitch to a golfer hitting an errant shot or a tennis player hitting the net on the serve…….

conversely, some folks should yell "go over the fence!" at every single baseball swing

You’ll often see people argue that the problem with the yelling at tennis/golf is that it’s unpredictable, but to me the answer there is just constant, predictable yelling.

The crowd doesn’t go silent for foul shots and penalty kicks and those require concentration 🤷‍♀️

Plus some baseballmen have people who run the bases for them. I can't think of a golf equivalent but I'm almost positive there COULD be one.

They make the biggest deal for one hole during the whole season where you can make noise and I’m always like fuck that. The least they could do is a whole tournament of that and it’d probably be the most popular tournament there is
