I don’t know about the rest of you, but we are currently only buying necessities, any extra money we spend is stocking up on essentials. They’re gouging us on food - which we have to buy, but we don’t have to make them richer by purchasing anything we don’t absolutely need.

same. cat food and seltzer. Though I did splurge $12 on cherries -- seems like the season is finally coming to an end.

There are some communities where WalMart is the only option, and I hate that for people. I don't shop there because I do have options. Regardless, it's necessities for us right now too. The costs are definitely going up all because of these stupid tariffs.

Yes this is the frustrating part. It really is the only option for a lot of rural people.

That's the part I hate all right...once upon a time, many of those areas had local stores (as we both know) and then the pestilence that is WalMart wiped out all of the competition. Now those folks are just stuck with a monolithic shopping giant.

Exactly. They started out ok, American owned, sold American Made, etc., but then gobbled everything up, started changing where things were purchased, abused employees, etc. I’m glad my dad at least has a couple other things in his area, but for some folks & for some items there’s only Walmart.

Whole chickens are $0.99lb in a 2-pack at Costco right now! Putting a few of those in the freezer.

Finding things like that for my freezer is a specialty of mine too! I'm so fortunate to have a big freezer in the garage, a smaller one down in the utility room, and the regular freezer with my fridge. Before the madness was inaugurated, my kiddo got a freezer for her garage too.
