unfortunately the sentiment of linux is still stuck in the mid 2010s or earlier, its still not perfect and has some annoyances even for someone like me, someone who has bothered to install arch on a toughbook, but its come far enough that Id say its a fair trade off compared to windows 11
I think you’re right about this one. It seems a lot of people still think Linux is this super-niche hobbyist project that requires a computer science degree to use. I had my non-techy dad using an old Dell Inspiron with Linux Mint, and he got along just fine. He never had any difficulty with it.
Id rather have to occasionally toy around with which version of proton to use than how to get around the next bloatware microsoft adds to windows, or window's increasing instability and likelihood to brick hardware (such as the recent SSD issue on win11), but I have to dualboot for my DAW sadly
