You're right! I remember now shouting at my laptop while trying to book The Messiah a few years ago.

Every time I try to book Mahler, it seems to think I'd much rather go to listen to a Jethro Tull tribute band or some-such.
I am amused when they publish their standard advice that “running times may be affected by encores, repertoire changes or intervals” (I’m paraphrasing, but it’s those 3 things)… when the programme is Mahler 2.
I suppose if they substitute a little Webern for the Mahler… or encore the last movement?
😆 Well, were I in the choir, *I’d* be up for reprising the last movement…
Or maybe encore the whole symphony, a bit like they did at the premiere of Il matrimonio segreto, when the emperor requested that the whole opera be played again.
This is now off-topic but why the fuck did anyone want to hear THAT opera twice?
It's a great opera!
I defer to the judgement of others on operas of that period, as they just aren’t my thing. I’ve seen it twice… and done a scene from it at some point, when I was still dabbling in maybe trying to be an operatic soloist.
I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I have yet to hear it whole. Must rectify that.
I should listen to it again, it's been ages.
That's how revolutions start.
Noooooo! 🤣
