(AHEM...) This seems like a good time to remind folks that you can help support WHOEVER the Iowa Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate ends up being by donating here. And no, the $ doesn't go to the DSCC...it goes to the actual nominee after the primary. secure.actblue.com/donate/senat...

One of ActBlue's lesser-known features is their "eventual nominee" fund. This is only available for federal races (U.S. House & Senate). Donations are held in an account until the nominee is decided; after that whatever's been built up is sent to the Democratic nominee.

So, if you don't really care whether the Iowa Senate nominee ends up being Zach Wahls (my pick), Josh Turek, Nathan Sage or Jackie Norris, you can donate to this fund and whichever one of them ends up as the nominee gets it next year.

Oh, and yes, i can confirm that the money from the Nominee Funds does go to the eventual nominees--back in 2020, I raised over $382,000 for Theresa Greenfield (the 2020 nom against Ernst). Of that, about $5,300 was raised via the Nominee Fund prior to swapping it out for her specifically.

Does any portion of monies designated as donations to a particular candidate through Act Blue end up in the Democratic National Committee’s bank accounts? Because I for one am furious with how the insiders at the DNC keep maneuvering on behalf of their presumptive favorite pre-ordained candidates.

Almost 2 years into Israel’s murder of 60,000 Gazans, 270 journalists, their continuing bombardment of hospitals, shooting people desperately seeking food I am disgusted with the Democratic National Committee’s failure to call for an immediate Israeli arms embargo. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAt3...

And that would impact the situation in Gaza... how? The DNC doesn't control the party the way the central committee in a parliamentary-style party (like Labour) would, and even if it did the Democrats are out of power. So what the hell does Gaza have to do with your gripes about the DNC?

So everyone is clear, the DNC has nothing to do with any primaries except delegate selection for presidential candidates. The DNC has little or no involvement in any races except President.

So everyone is clear? Look at the results from DNC jackasses ruining 2016 and 2024. Dana, the Democratic National Committee coordinates strategy to support Democratic Party candidates throughout the country for local, state, and national office. Read Thomas Frank. inthesetimes.com/features/lis...

what about 2024 was specifically the fault of the DNC. President clanked a debate because he was old and the VP ran and lost in a bad year for incumbents globally.

anyway, PMC liberals have always been part of the dem coalition and are in fact the most liberal members by ideology. You can have purity or white workign class voters but not both.

96% of donations to specific candidates via ActBlue pages go to their campaign. 4% goes to cc processing fees. None goes to the DNC unless the DNC is the specified recipient. Now, it's possible that some *candidates* choose to transfer money to the DNC later on, but that's not ActBlue's doing.

Because of this post, I went to look up Zach Wahls. WOW. Aside from all the amazing activism + experience (gay moms, breakout testimony, book, won 1st St Sen race), this charming story made me realize he had his own Taylor+Travis moment—only he got to be Taylor!

Same. The page I like of theirs is where they have a whole bunch of races listed and you can check box the ones you want to contribute to.... All in one place. There's usually a house and a senate one.

Yeah, that's similar to my slate pages, in reverse--with mine $ is split evenly across every candidate by default but you can also remove the ones you don't want to donate to (or modify how much each one gets). Both are handy tools.
