One of the greatest obstacles to having a meaningful anti-fascist movement is liberal privilege. The life of the average liberal hasn’t been impacted (yet) and they are still going to protests and rallies like it’s a fun activity to do with friends. All of this is still not “real” to them.
The liberal worldview is passive by nature — they don’t believe in exercising power, not really, and the idea that violence may be necessary to combat fascism is a historical relic and not applicable here. As of now, their entire worldview still revolves around voting our way out of this.
Sorry to be a Doomer but I think the anti-fascist opposition in America is way too privileged to deal with these bloodthirsty lunatics. Liberals lack imagination for what they’re dealing with and when push comes to shove, won’t stick their necks out because they have far too much to lose.
