I feel like Pritzker is absolutely the guy who would lock up Republicans as president. I don’t trust Newsom for one second. This is all a game to him and I fully expect him to cave on everything were he actually to be elected president.
Newsom posts a lot but Pritzker seems like the guy who is actually doing the most behind-the-scenes to protect his state from fascism. Things are about to get ugly in Chicago but I’d feel pretty good if I lived there that the governor of my state actually had my back.
Pritzker is at the forefront of this and clearly seems to be the most prepared blue state governor in the country when it comes to stopping fascism, not only working to stockpile vaccines but also holding daily calls preparing for worst-case scenarios. We need every governor to be doing this.

The liberal worldview is passive by nature — they don’t believe in exercising power, not really, and the idea that violence may be necessary to combat fascism is a historical relic and not applicable here. As of now, their entire worldview still revolves around voting our way out of this.
One of the greatest obstacles to having a meaningful anti-fascist movement is liberal privilege. The life of the average liberal hasn’t been impacted (yet) and they are still going to protests and rallies like it’s a fun activity to do with friends. All of this is still not “real” to them.
I for one am very excited for the Democratic majority in 2027 to be facing down an authoritarian regime and to still refuse to do basic stuff like enforcing subpoenas.
