I actually think this would work. I mean we are seeing politics driven by a Real World ethos. A broadly popular TV alter ego who understands truthiness might be the ticket. But I do not think he would want to, because he is sane.

Whatever your definition of a celebrity is the President needs to have a lot of those qualities plus being decent. Trump has charisma but wasn’t decent. Biden was decent but had no charisma. Obama was decent and charismatic. Colbert is too.

Stephen Colbert would definitely make a better POTUS than the current one, no contest, not kidding. When he announced his shows cancelation the 1st thing he did was mention "the 200 people who work on this show". That's a man who knows how to lead a team of high-level professionals.

As good as Colbert is, "better than the current one" is an incredibly low bar.

When he was at his peak during the Colbert Report days, 90% of my seniors would have voted for him. Liberals understood the jokes. Conservatives loved what he was saying and felt represented by him. No joke about the conservatives, they thought he was just like them.
