Ive been reading "Dark Money". Apparently for 40+ years the billionaires want no money wasted on public education but rather create vouchers to be used at private/religious/nondenominational schools where THEY control info taught: govt and regulation bad,no taxes, free market principals,

That book should be required reading for all Americans. It explains the deep background of everything we are seeing now. Itβs a several decade long plan, all of this did not come out of nowhere very recently.
I also recommend "Evil Geniuses" by Kurt Andersen. I'll be 76 in 2 weeks and am not sure i will see the ship of state righted in my lifetime (even tbo I hope to hit 100)
I'm 72, and wonder the same thing.

The love the tax breaks and their tax deductible foundations that spend billions poisoning the electorate
The one that bothers me the most is the Heritage Foundation. I can't believe that they are tax exempt!
They are ALL tax exempt. Read Dark Money...you will see just how screwed we are by these selfish pricks. They have ZERO MORALITY
I'll read it. I have a feeling it's not going to make me happy!
It wont. The last and only political book that made me happy was "All the Presidents Men" so long ago
On my list now, thanks for the rec!
Another one I happened to read a few years ago when I was trying to understand how we got here snd really liked (an easier read, not as deep a dive) is "Evil Geniuses" by Kurt Andersen. Read that first then Dark Money.
It wonβt. I read it years back and I need to reread it but my stacks are already too high
