Shouldn't have to do it, really don't have to do it, but figured I am better off doing it. But it really has a dark side to it.

I’d be calling the kettle black if I admonished you. I have a bad habit of doing that irl. People can’t follow the old “if you can’t say anything nice don’t say it at all” adage.
