A friend lent me this book. My 82 year old Dad did not score well in the two tests at the beginning. LOL His own caseworker told me to "save myself" and go as low contact as possible last week. What's neat about this book is that it asks you to reflect upon your own level of absorption as you go.
Funny how things get misinterpreted when we don't have in-person clues to go of. LOL

Also got to pet some rescued pigs the other day. They were quite the characters! Visit and follow farm sanctuaries when you can. They educate the public on the abuses that come can along with the various industries and husbandries that use animals for labor, entertainment, and profit.

You are absolutely right. I'm definitely having a hard time adjusting my Gen X brain to more modern viewpoints on the human figure, among other things. I am trying very hard to adapt for the better, but that is old, old base programming still being supported. I won't stop trying to recode! LOL
I was thinking about why I even mentioned those "flaws", and discovered I said what I said to get a jump on people being judgmental. Like, "I see it, I know it's considered gross, and guess what? IDC I like it and am putting it out there" kind of thing. I will have to unpack that some other time.

This response to my picture of my bonded boys (when one may be at the end of his life) was completely unnecessary. Not every thought needs to be shared, especially during someone's hard time. I don't think the user meant any harm, but let this remind us to be a little more thoughful.
Isolation will kill a rattie spirit, so I created a convalescent corner in the big cage with easy access to food, water, and a couple bed areas. Rumble has been all up on him during the listless times, which is so lovely to see. #Rats can have strong emotions and bonds for sure. (2/2)
Update on Frenzy. We still don't know what is going on. An infection, a virus, maybe a chronic heart issue. He can be listless for a several hours, and you think he is on death's door, and then he is running around like normal for the rest of the day. He's eating and voiding better, though. (1/2)

My sister is fostering a Momma cat and her two kittens. Momma is calico, babies are orange and..... seal point. LOL Kittens hadn't hit that crazy energy stage yet, so I got to cuddle the heck out of them yesterday. Momma was a sweetheart. Hoping for great homes for them all!
Frenzy is a little under the weather. Virus or bacterial infection, not sure. He is in the sick cage so he can get rest and easy access to food and drink- things his brother does not allow for! LOL He seemed perkier today, showing good interest in food and drink. Feel better soon, little buddy!

For the first time, I am able to begin formulating a plan to leave my Dad's life if it comes to that. I was a slave to one abusive parent until it nearly killed me, and I refuse to do it again. I am compiling a list of resources to give to him in case I need to go. He can get his own help.
It's been tough but rewarding learning new truths about my Dad, who is a complicated man (rec. alcoholic, gambling addict, disabled, hostile codependent) and why he behaves the way he does. Hooking up with an online GamAnon group and learning gambling is just like any drug has been a big help.
