It's legal because Congress has never considered the lives of former VPs as being important. They don't receive lifetime protection like former presidents.

You're welcome. It's a shame they don't prioritize their lives because their knowledge of world events can rival that of the president, making them at risk of kidnapping or worse. At least she will receive support from CHP per Gov. Newsom.
