I can't remember fuck all these days, is there any solid evidence of Tony Khan disliking horror based characters as a whole? I mean, if he had a bad experience with the ideas being pitched by Malakai Black that's one thing and maybe it had a residual effect on how he viewed the Righteous.

Look what happened to Luthor. I love TK but he absolutely does not know what to do with spooky/horror/psychological type of characters. Dark Order, Abadon, Danhausen, House of Black, Rob Ryzin, The Righteous. I am consistently disappointed during spooky season and I have come to expect that.
The infamous Dark Order ‘Creepers’ angle at the end of 2019 left a bad taste in his mouth & was the catalyst for him becoming far more hands on with AEW booking in January 2020.
Well, it was the overreaction on twitter, that didn't die for two fucking weeks. Which made him tighten ship up. However, it's allegedly not TK, but the guy who still helps to run the actual TV shows. His name starts with a Q and ends with a T.
Wasn't that much more about the segment being a cart full of crap with masked guys who did not know what they were doing and stuff? I could also be that he is not into like the horror vibes and thus wont book for? Although of we go by what Bookers like I am still waiting for a Time Cop storyline.
There was also Abadon and that one time they tried to make danhausen serious... and I think the nightmare collective was suppoused to be scary
But if he really hated the horror aesthetic, why would Triangle of Madness be pushed like they are?

Right. It's an assumption I've seen by fans, but we have to take other factors into play. Like Tom Budgen's awful creative ideas and how that had a lot to do with HOB going nowhere.

I think he just doesn't know what to do with those gimmicks... He doesn't have connections to that type of lore. Which is a shame. He's a TimeCop fan after all.
Yeah in a way TK is like Vince McMahon, without the rape and sex trafficking. He has his type of wrestlers he enjoys and can work with. When he has a wrestler that isn’t his type, he’s not sure what to do with them.
Yeah, it's hard to be creative or see the value when you don't feel inspired by the subject matter... That's why having only one guy handling creative is limiting sometimes
I never thought of the Righteous as a horror based team.
They certainly weren't booked that way under TK, though the pieces were there if they wanted to do something darker with them.

I do wonder if they were slightly ahead of the time but yeah they weren't horror, they would have been more popular/useful when AEW were promoting Righteous Gemstones earlier this year lol. I'd say they were more Far Cry 5 inspired.

The problem with a horror gimmick is that they have to be a threat while constrained by what you can do in the context of a weekly wrestling TV show. Triangle of Madness are just 3 goth mean girls. They don't have magic powers.

She has, but it didn’t corrupt. The last few times, it hasn’t corrupted. I think they’ve taken away the “magical” properties of it, which I think is for the best.

Yeah. They have to be this unstoppable force, which then you ask “why aren’t they the world champion yet?” Undertaker & (to a lesser extent) Kane worked cause they did eventually win the world title within a year of their debut.
Brodie Lee was probably the closest to horror but was handicapped by the lovable dorks he surrounded himself with. Brodie Lee himself was a threat, however. Otherwise there's HoB, but a certain someone handicapped themselves by refusing to be pinned, which torpedoed that gimmick.
