I have been involved in multiple collaborations between public colleges, grade schools, and local companies—OK, it was just my employers. For several summers, I taught teachers how to teach labs in my lab. Why? No funding for that kind of training, which impacted our ability to hire locally.
We taught environmental classes at local high schools with field projects, like restoring habitat. We needed to do the field work, and they needed stronger college essays. But...when we lost the budget, the school cut the class and hired another football coach the same year.
