He hasn't officially retired. Though the job Vimes moved him to is basically an excuse for him to get out of the house, and honestly is functionally retirement.

So, not retired then. The job he was doing was as onerous as the one he'd been doing for decades. (While also creating income for the treasury.)

Yeah. I would argue less onerous though. I don't think he ever has to go anywhere or really do anything besides talk to his old buddies which he would have done anyways.
